Hello Jaguars!

Welcome to our first CVAC Jaguars newsletter!

Track season seems a long way off but we have begun the process of recruiting a new executive and adding to our team of coaches.

As you may know, Sheila Southern-LloydSheila is stepping down after many years of dedicated leadership. She leaves behind big shoes to fill but has thankfully agreed to help all the “newbies” get organized. And not to worry, we have a feeling that she might  be making some guest appearances throughout the season!

A special thanks also to Nancy Southern, Sheila’s mom for all her hard work as secretary/treasurer/registrar….. for many years.

Our first club meeting was held on October 22nd. We had an enthusiastic group of parents attend and the 2010 season promises to be a great one. Here is the list of which positions that have been filled so far:

Volunteers Needed!

As you may be aware, CVAC Jaguars is a volunteer organization run largely by the parents of our athletes. We welcome anyone interested in pitching in. As the old saying goes, “Many hands make light work.”

Fundraising

In order to keep our club fees affordable we’ll be brainstorming in the coming months for innovative fund-raising ideas. If you have a great idea, send it along to Jenny Broere at mistayacanyon@shaw.ca

Upcoming Events:

Cinnamon Bun Fun Run   Sunday, Nov. 29th at 9:30am. 5 km or 10 km.

This a great family run. Entry fee is 5 items of non-perishable food going to the Ladysmith Food Bank.

Club Track Meet

We have already nailed down the date for our club meet this season.  The Garriock Track Meet will be held on June 12,13, 2010. Please mark it on your calendar as this is a big event, a big fund-raiser for our club, and a lot of fun! We will need as many hands as possible to ensure a well-run meet.

New Recruits!

Anyone you know interested in becoming a Jaguar? Send us their names and email address to Deana Robertson ( slang-2@shaw.ca ) so we can send them future newsletters and make them feel welcome!

Look for upcoming newsletters for info regarding:

  1. Our annual AGM (sometime in February. Date TBA)
  2. Registration (we will send registration info via email to returning athletes.)
  3. Coaching clinics (Crosbie has offered to run a sprint clinic for interested coaches, parents, and older athletes. Date TBA)
  4.  Fundraising
