General Club Information

All members must help set up and put away equipment at practices.  Parents’ participation is required to help the club offer a full scope of events.  Our track club is responsible for officiating the high jump event at every island track meet.  There will be a short, high jumping clinic put on for all parents in the near future, the date to be announced.  Every family is expected to participate in officiating the high jumping event at every meet that they attend.  This will only require an hour or two for the full weekend.  There are seven island series track meets.

Volunteer Positions:

Parent Liaison –

Track Meet Registrar – (includes signing up athletes for each meet and responsible for getting the shot put volunteer list filled) –

Coaching Assistants –

CVAC also hosts our annual Garriock Meet, which is a huge success because of our awesome volunteers!

Please make sure the athletes are dressed warmly and have a good pair of running shoes for practices.  If the weather is very rainy, practices may not last the full two hours.  Please be prepared to pick up your child early in the event of bad weather.

The singlets will be for sale for $35.00.  We offer a ‘buy back’ program, where we will buy back used singlets for $10 (for athletes who are not returning) and resell those ones as used for $15.

Subway has a great Fund Raising Program.  We are selling Subway Discount Cards at our AGM meeting on February 25th  for $5.00 per card.  You simply sell the cards for $5.00 each and our club can keep 100% of the proceeds.  It is just that simple.  The person that you sell the card to will receive up to $50.00 in savings for only $5.00 donation to our club.  The cards can be redeemed at any Duncan, Chemainus or Woodgrove Centre Subway locations.  So please come prepared to participate in this great program to raise money for our club.

BC Athletics puts out a newsletter every Wednesday on their website at http://bcathletics.org.

You should regularly check out the website.

We are seeking anyone with an interest in track and field to join our coaching team.  Courses and practical training are available.
